Family Child Care
Home: Care
provided in the provider’s own home for up to 10 children.
Family Child Care Center:
Care provided in a residential or commercial structure for up to 15
children.
Child Care Center:
Care provided for 16 or more children. |

The
number of children a caregiver can care for is determined by the Child Care
Licensing Rules. This number is based on the ages of the children and the
number of caregivers present to care for the children. Staff:child ratios
are important to assure safety for your child and that your child will get
the attention and care that he/she needs.

Family Child Care Homes
with one caregiver should never have more than 10 children with a maximum of
2 children under 2 years of age. When there are only 8 children in care,
one caregiver may care for up to 4 children under the age of 3.
Family Child Care Centers
may provide care for up
to 15 children. However, when more than 10 children are present, there must
be 2 caregivers caring for the children.
